Najib’s ‘Mandat 2013’ interview


KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — Following is the gist of the interview with Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the programme ‘Mandat 2013’ aired on TV3 tonight:
  • A big mandate to the BN from the people is important for the government to realise the vision to turn Malaysia into a developed nation within the next seven years.

  • BN has a good chance of winning a two-thirds majority in the 13th general election (GE13).
  • There are indications that the people are beginning to return to the BN especially in the states administered by the opposition following better support for the coalition and the improved condition of living  compared to the past.

  • Sabah and Sarawak remain as strong fortresses for the BN despite the relentless attacks by the opposition pact.

  • The opposition realise that they cannot win the GE13, thus they are desperate to the extent of using dirty tactics to achieve their dream.

  • The opposition try to condition the mind of the people and international community that there is deception in the election process if the election results are not in their favour.

  • Malaysians should not be afraid to go out to vote because the Election

  • Commission (EC) and police are prepared to face any possibility from any group trying to create chaos on polling day.

  • The opposition is also trying to deny the credibility and transparency of the EC in holding the general election although it had carried out numerous reforms including adopting 15 suggestions from the opposition in improving the country’s election system.

  • Racial polarisation due to racial sentiments played up by the DAP in the general election is dangerous because it can jeopardise national peace and harmony.

  • BN is a truly multi-racial party because it is a coalition of various other component parties and practised a tolerant attitude, reached a consensus as well as adopting policies that took into consideration the views of all races.

  • The Indian community now is more confident of the BN after the government implemented various programmes to assist the community including creating a Cabinet Committee on the Affairs of the Indian Community almost five years ago.

  • Malaysia is among the most liberal nations because it gives an opportunity to the people to choose the type of education that they want for their children.
