Najib congratulates Everest-conquering Felda youths

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has congratulated four Felda youths on their success in scaling world's tallest mountain Mount Everest Tuesday morning.

The Prime Minister said the achievement of the Felda Everest 2013 climbers, accompanied by two instructors, had inspired the entire Felda community.

"Congratulations to four Felda youths and their coaches for conquering Mount Everest today. The success is an inspiration to the entire Felda community," he said in his tweet Tuesday.

According to sources, the youngest climber, Mohd Nasuha Shamsuddin, 21, reached a height of 8,848m from sea level at 8.31am (2.05am M'sian time).

He was followed by Mohamad Asyraf Mohd Halim, 25, at 8.48am (3am M'sian time) and Muhammad Hafizuddin Ibrahim, 22, at 9.11am (3.25am M'sian time).

They were part of a five-man team from Felda in Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Pahang, in the expedition organised by the Malaysia Seven Continent Exploration Club (KE7B).

The expedition, which began on April 2, was also supported by Felda Youth Council and Felda Global Venture Holding. - Bernama
