Netizens keenly following Najib’s Gaza updates

PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister’s updates and photos from his visit to Gaza are keenly followed by Netizens.

As of 7pm yesterday, there were more than 1.3 million “Likes” with almost 2,000 comments posted on his Facebook account.

A common theme was that they believed Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak showed strong leadership in undertaking the visit.

Jas Shinder said “Bringing peace is a noble thing to do” while Su Haw Tan posted: “Brave Leader, M’sia is proud of UUUUU.”

The PM is one of the few political leaders in the world to have a following of over one million in both Facebook and Twitter. He also engaged directly with the Chinese community through his Ah Jib Gor page.

Resist2Exist said that Najib had praised the Palestinians for their strength and determination.

He quoted Najib saying, “We may be far from you in distance, but we are one nation and believe in the struggle of the Palestinian people.”

Resist2Exist said that it was good to know that Malaysians had opened their eyes to the oppression and suffering of the Palestinian people.

Governments worldwide needed to do likewise while the Arab leaders needed to wake up and help the Palestinians, he said.

On Tuesday, Firdaus Christopher tweeted thanking the Government and Malaysians for Najib’s visit to Gaza while Isaac Ismael said, “May Allah bless DS Najib and wife in Gaza.”

Najib tweeted late Tuesday night that he was received by its Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza and completed his task there safely and successfully.

“We hope that the visit could strengthen the relations between the two countries,” he said, adding that he had also visited the project site for a school funded by Malaysia.

Najib said he left Gaza at 11pm, noting that it was a historical visit that lends support to Gaza and the Palestinians.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein retweeted the visit and said, “Very proud of our PM. We continue 2 pray 4 unity in Palestine.”
