PEKAN - The success of the nation will depend on the ability of its people to develop their talent, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"Someone once said the power of an empire is based on strength but let us hope the empire of the mind will prevail.
"It is no longer about military might but the might of the mind.
"The race of this century is based on ideas.
"Whoever has the better idea will surpass others.
"It is what we call the contestation of ideas," said Najib before presenting awards to 464 Pekan students who excelled in the UPSR and PMR examinations here yesterday.
He added that the people must not only be successful academically but also become innovative.
"If we do more than the usual, if parents guide their children with all their heart, then students will be able to achieve success beyond our expectations," said Najib.
He said that besides the Government, the role of parents and the community was a contributing factor to a child's success.
