GEORGE TOWN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak began his two-day visit to Penang with a hi-tea reception with local Chinese community leaders.
On arriving at the Penang International Airport at 3.30pm, the premier and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor headed to Traders Hotel here, where a crowd of over 200 people received him.
A group of youths shouted, "1Malaysia, sokong Najib, undi BN."
Apart from invited guests, Penang Barisan Nasional exco members were also present for the closed-door gathering at Cha Bistro.
Among those present were Penang Chinese Chambers of Commerce president Datuk Seri Choot Ewe Seng, Penang Chinese Town Hall president Datuk Lam Wu Chong and Kek Lok Si Temple abbot Datuk Seri Rev Seck Jit Heng.
Others included businessmen Datuk Wong Kum Fuat, Datuk Tony Khor, Datuk Yeap Beow Chong, Datuk Ong Kok Sun, Datuk Seri Lim Gait Tong and Dixon Chew.
Among the Penang Barisan Nasional leaders were its chief Teng Chang Yeow, his deputy-cum-Penang Umno chief Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman, Penang Wanita MCA chief Tan Cheng Liang, Penang Gerakan chief Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan, Penang MIC chief Datuk G. Rajoo and Penang PPP chief Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan.
Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce president Datuk and Penang Tourist Centre chairman Datuk Seri Syed Mohd Aidid Syed Murtaza were also present.
Najib will have dinner with Penang media practitioners in G Hotel.
