Najib's visit to Dongzong open house a good start: Liow

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- "It is a good start, we can continue to strengthen the relationship and work hard for the benefit of all in the country," said MCA Deputy President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Liow when commenting on the recent Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's visit to the United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia (Dongzong) Chinese New Year open house said he was very happy that the Prime Minister took the trouble and found time to attend the function.

"That showed Malaysia's multiracial culture, our mutual respect to celebrate the Chinese New Year together," he said, adding that MCA will continue to assist Dongzong and any association that needed their help.

On the issue of MCA not looked upon as the middleman any more since the association can now go straight to the premier, Liow who is also the Health Minister said he did not feel anything wrong with it.

"We are serving the rakyat, it is the same objective," he said. Najib last Sunday became the first prime minister to attend a Chinese New Year celebration organised by Dongzong since it was established 59 years ago, held at Dong Jiao Zong Higher Learning Centre in Kajang.
