KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Saturday
announced a RM3.5mil allocation to repaint flats in the Pandan
parliamentary constituency in Selangor.
"I promise to approve and
channel an allocation of RM3.5 million for repainting flats here and
the repainting project will commence soon.
"We (Barisan Nasional)
prove the people come first and this is just part of what we have in
store, more will be enjoyed by the people of Selangor if the state
reverts to the BN," he said during his visit to the Pandan Jaya flats
here.
During the visit, Najib also mingled with the 200-odd
families living at the flats who had turned out in full force to welcome
him and also painted part of the wall of one of the units as a symbolic
gesture on the awarding of the allocation.
Najib said he was
aware that the Pakatan Rakyat government in Selangor had promised to
repaint the blocks of flats there but had not kept their word.
"Today,
on the request of Pandan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, I
came to see for myself the situation and announce this allocation," he
said.
Meanwhile, Ong lauded the allocation and said 58 blocks of low and medium cost flats and apartments could be repainted with it.
The
prime minister then launched the BN's election machinery for the
constituency at Kampung Melayu Ampang before performing the Zohor
prayers with the local folk at the Jamil Huda Mosque.
Najib also joined the congregation for lunch.
