Najib pleased postal voting process going on smoothly

KUALA LUMPUR (April 29, 2013): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said today he was pleased to see the postal voting process going on smoothly as more than 50 per cent of postal voters have cast their votes.

"(I am) pleased to see our introduction of overseas voting is going smoothly, (as) more than 50 per cent of postal votes have already been cast for 13th General Election (GE13)," he said in his latest Tweet.

For the first time, in this general election, the Election Commission (EC) has introduced postal voting for Malaysians who reside overseas. The overseas postal voting, which was carried out yesterday, saw 50 to 60 per cent of Malaysians cast their votes in countries such as Australia, India, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and China.

Arrangements had been made for the 6,339 overseas postal voters to cast their votes at 103 missions worldwide. The postal voting applies to Malaysians residing overseas except for those staying in Singapore, southern Thailand, Brunei and Kalimantan in Indonesia. – Bernama
