Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's astute
stewardship has guided Malaysia on the path to achieving developed
nation status by 2020.
Al-Hadharah Boustead REIT chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin hoped
that the Barisan Nasional government under the leadership of Najib would
be given a fresh mandate in the 13th General Election to lead the
country for the next five years as he had done a fantastic job in
transforming the Malaysian economy.
"As a corporate entity, we want to see a stable political environment
prevailing in the country, strong leadership and the continuity of the
various economic programmes by the present government to ensure that the
agenda to transform this country to a developed nation status by 2020
can be achieved.
"If possible, not 2020 but earlier than that," he told reporters after the company's annual general meeting here today.
Lodin, who is also deputy chairman and group managing director of
Boustead Holdings Bhd, said Najib had also transformed the
government-linked companies (GLCs) into regional and global market
players.
"Being part of the transformation programme, GLCs including Boustead,
have benefitted tremendously from the Economic Transformation Programme
and many other initiatives provided by the government.
"The close monitoring by the prime minister himself in ensuring all
these programmes are properly being carried out or implemented, are in
line with the government's own transformation programme, and I think
this augured very well for us and the economy of this country.
"Therefore, we certainly would like to see the continuity of the various
transformation programmes taking place under the leadership of Datuk
Seri Najib," he added.
