KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak shared a personal yet humble message in Barisan Nasional's manifesto, by making a heartfelt appeal to Malaysians to come along on his 1Malaysia journey.

Admitting the ardous task and heavy responsibility of leading Barisan into a general election for the first time since he entered politics 37 years ago, Najib spoke of his late father Tun Abdul Razak Hussein's reminder to him that his duty to the nation is to fulfill the trust of the people to the best of his ability.

“As we head into the 13th general election, I, as the leader of Barisan, humbly seek your mandate to carry on this task of lifting Malaysia to a new heights. I seek to lead a government that puts the interests and the welfare of the people first.

“As Prime Minister of Malaysia, this mandate I seek is about continuity and sustainability against disruption and stagnation, about moving forward versus regressing, about unity, stability, harmony and prosperity versus division, chaos, discord and crisis,” he said in the preface to the manifesto.

Najib, who is Barisan chairman said the future of the nation lies in the hands of its citizens and power to the people was what free and fair elections were all about.

He said the country's founders had expounded the values of commitment and sacrifice, the same values which would guide him to fulfill his task and responsibility of leading the nation.

“A mandate from you is a promise of hope, a mandate for us to achieve greatness together as one people, one nation, one vision.

“Allow me to continue serving you to the best of my ability. I would like to assure you that the best is yet to come!,” he said.
