Ex-govt staff all for Najib and BN

PUTRAJAYA: Government pensioners pledged their unwavering support for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th General Election.

More than 3,000 government pensioners were given the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday.

Among them were former Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) otologist Dr Gina Goh, 70, who pledged her support for Najib.

Because the country needed a strong leader like Najib, Dr Gina said there should not be a change.

"The country has achieved so much and we are on the right track towards becoming a developed nation with his (Najib) transformation programmes. Therefore, we must give him our support to continue his leadership."

Dr Gina said the country was stable and with developments progressing on track, it showed that the ruling government had done a good job for the past four years.

In his speech during at event for government pensioners at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here yesterday, Najib asked the pensioners to pool together as their votes were essential for the ruling coalition to win the election.

Brahim Mohamed, 68, said he felt that without BN, future generations would lose out in terms of opportunities.

"The older generation, like us, benefited a lot and I believe that the younger must be given the same," said the former general worker with the Shah Alam Municipal Council.

He said only the ruling coalition could ensure the country's success in becoming a developed nation as the opposition were all talk but no action.

As for Kumaran Arumugam, 69, he believed that BN would win the election because they had proved themselves worthy to be the ruling government.

"The promises they made to the people were fulfilled."
