Initiatives In BN Manifesto A Boon For Women - Rosmah

PEKAN, April 21 (Bernama) -- Initiatives contained in the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto for the 13th General Election (GE13) will help women to be more capable and self-reliant as well create more opportunities to work from home, said the prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Rosmah said she felt proud because the government, in the BN manifesto unveiled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently, promised to provide more business opportunities to boost women's income.

"The government will also give a bigger emphasis on single mothers and increase the number of women involved in decision-making at the national level.

"I am confident the BN manifesto is proof the government is not sidelining women by giving priority to the interest and welfare of the people as a whole," she said when addressing a gathering at the compound of the Seri Kenangan Residence, here, Sunday.

She said Najib had implemented numerous initiatives in the interests of women in the country who also contribute to economic development.

Rosmah said Najib had never forgotten the contributions of women as builders of happy families, by continuing his commitment to mobilise the agenda of developing and strengthening the group so they would be able to boost productivity and income.

In the meantime, Rosmah urged the people not to be easily influenced by accusations hurled by certain quarters against the prime minister because it was a political agenda to derail his struggle.

She said BN's contributions in 55 years of rule were amply proven via numerous development programmes it implemented and that surely the BN would continue its traditional agenda as the people's champion.

She said BN also had an excellent performance in looking after the welfare of the people, and as such, the people should support BN to continue ruling the nation.
