Najib: Judge BN govt on results

PROVEN SUCCESS: We have always put people's interests first, says PM.

KUALA LUMPUR: PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday called on the people to decide whether changing the government was necessary to fulfil their needs and interests.

While voters were free to change the government, Najib reminded them that the administration had always put the people's interests first.

"What's important is not what's already in place, but the results.

"The people have to ask themselves whether they need to ubah (change) the government to get their desired outcomes, or stick with the present administration which has already proven that those outcomes can be achieved," he said while launching the Integrated South-Bandar Tasik Selatan Transport Terminal (TBS-BTS) here.

He criticised those who opposed government initiatives aimed at improving the people's lives, such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Putrajaya federal administrative centre, the Kuala Lumpur City Centre and Petronas Twin Towers, the Penang Bridge and the North-South Expressway.
"Certain parties have doubted and condemned these projects, but, in the end, they've had to accept them. They now even dream of owning these facilities."

Najib said TBS-BTS, a RM570 million public transport hub, was built to develop an integrated, reliable and affordable public transport network.

"In addition to making people's lives easier, transport hubs also reduce congestion in urban areas and boost business opportunities for traders."

Najib said the terminal had "five-star" facilities, including e-ticketing services, 60 retail shops and 500 closed-circuit television cameras.

"This terminal is more modern and comfortable than most airports, including airports overseas."

Najib said more passengers were using the terminal, with the number of tickets sold increasing by 3.8 per cent to 1.8 million tickets last year, from 1.08 million tickets in 2011.

He said the terminal served an average of 33,000 passengers per day in the first quarter of this year, compared with 23,000 daily passengers last year.
