Creches at workplaces help women to pursue career: Najib

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15, 2013): More childcare centres at workplaces will give women more freedom to pursue their career, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.

He said this in his twitter posting today, which also attached a link to an article published by theSun with the heading, 'RM15 mil incentives to set up childcare centres at workplaces'.

A news report quoted Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim as saying that more childcare centres would be set up with grant incentives provided by the government.

Towards this end, the government has allocated RM15 million for grant incentives to assist operators of private childcare and education centres in setting up high quality centres.

Rohani also said Budget 2013 provided income tax exemptions for five years and industrial building allowance at the rate of 10% a year to operators of private childcare centres. – Bernama

Najib: Women can be a driving force

KUALA LUMPUR: Women can play a leading role in countries that want to build sustainable and successful economies, says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He said an improved representation of women would not only provide better decision-making, but would also help open up talent reserves that too often had been left untapped.

“Advancing economic opportunities for women is the right thing to do,” the Prime Minister said at the opening of the Global Summit of Women 2013 here yesterday.

Najib said a country's success and stature should be gauged by the status it accorded its women. Malaysia's women, he said, had been given the right to vote since 1957 and had earned equal wages since 1969.

Women Are At The Heart Of Our Society

Women Deliver Conference 2013 | 1Malaysia.com.my
Women Are At The Heart Of Our Society
May 28th, 2013 by Najib Razak
This morning I had the pleasure of speaking at the Women Deliver conference in Kuala Lumpur. It was a great honour for us to host the event, and an ever greater honour to share the stage with some of the leading lights in women’s advocacy.

Women are at the heart of our society. They deserve the best – in healthcare, in education and in the workplace. So as I walked to the stage to give my speech, I thought about the people who have inspired me with their commitment to improving the lives of women and girls – not just in Malaysia, but in the world.

People like Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, who guards our economic success; Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, who has done so much to improve maternal, public and mental health for women

I also thought of my time as Women’s Minister and Education Minister, about the challenges I have faced. In government, our job is to make sure we reach developed nation status without leaving any Malaysians behind. I believe that Malaysia’s future will only be really sustainable if we give our women and girls the best start in life.

Women the pulse of society - Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's future will be more secured if women's rights continue to be protected as they are the pulse of society, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

In his latest entry in 1malaysia.com.my blog today, he said the new mandate given by the people in the general election gave him the opportunity to continue to serve women.

"Women are entitled to the best healthcare services, educational and employment opportunities.
"Today, 65 percent of students in higher education institutions in the country are women.

"The rate of maternal mortality in this country is also one of the lowest in the region with only 29 in every 100,000 births compared to 540 in every 100,000 births after independence."

Najib said in the index of the World Economic Forum, Malaysia was ranked among the final quarter.

"The challenge now is to ensure that the success we have achieved in education and healthcare is translated into success in the workplace and society."

He also touched on the Women Deliver Global Conference 2013 in Kuala Lumpur today that was attended by international women activists. -- BERNAMA

Initiatives In BN Manifesto A Boon For Women - Rosmah

PEKAN, April 21 (Bernama) -- Initiatives contained in the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto for the 13th General Election (GE13) will help women to be more capable and self-reliant as well create more opportunities to work from home, said the prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Rosmah said she felt proud because the government, in the BN manifesto unveiled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently, promised to provide more business opportunities to boost women's income.

"The government will also give a bigger emphasis on single mothers and increase the number of women involved in decision-making at the national level.

"I am confident the BN manifesto is proof the government is not sidelining women by giving priority to the interest and welfare of the people as a whole," she said when addressing a gathering at the compound of the Seri Kenangan Residence, here, Sunday.

She said Najib had implemented numerous initiatives in the interests of women in the country who also contribute to economic development.

Rosmah said Najib had never forgotten the contributions of women as builders of happy families, by continuing his commitment to mobilise the agenda of developing and strengthening the group so they would be able to boost productivity and income.

In the meantime, Rosmah urged the people not to be easily influenced by accusations hurled by certain quarters against the prime minister because it was a political agenda to derail his struggle.

She said BN's contributions in 55 years of rule were amply proven via numerous development programmes it implemented and that surely the BN would continue its traditional agenda as the people's champion.

She said BN also had an excellent performance in looking after the welfare of the people, and as such, the people should support BN to continue ruling the nation.
