A Promise of Hope

Following the dissolution of Parliament last week, I presented the Barisan Nasional manifesto on Saturday in the presence of tens of thousands of supporters at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil. Previously, Pakatan Rakyat had claimed that a manifesto is not a promise that must be fulfilled. For Barisan Nasional, we say that the manifesto is a pledge we are undertaking for the rakyat.

Malaysia’s success is evident in its various achievements today, and has clearly demonstrated Barisan Nasional’s competence and ability in fulfilling the promises we have made before. While we have faced several shortcomings over the years, these mistakes have served to further reinforce our desire to work harder for the sake of Malaysia’s future.

In this new manifesto, we have pledged to focus on 17 main areas in which to deliver our commitments and promises. You can read a summary of each of these 17 pledges on my website here , while the full manifesto can be read at www.manifestopru13.com.

The manifesto I presented was not designed in a day merely for the sake of winning the hearts of voters. It was carefully framed after going through the observations made during our walkabout sessions and various other efforts to obtain feedback from the rakyat. These efforts have resulted in a manifesto that is both realistic and comprehensive in addressing the needs of our time.

If you are confident in my leadership and in Barisan Nasional, I then humbly ask for your support and your vote. As a team, we pledge to continue our fight towards our hope for a progressive and prosperous Malaysia for the rakyat.
