Of the allocation, RM400mil would be for the Bumiputra entrepreneurs funding programme under the Economic Planning Unit and the setting up of a Teraju exchange portal to help Bumiputra companies penetrate the international market.
Najib said RM100mil would be allocated to Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd and RM100mil under Mara to expand Bumiputra corporate equities. Najib said the limit for the Tekun and Mara loans would be extended from RM50,000 to RM100,000 while the limit for Mara business loans from RM50,000 to RM100,000.
He advised entrepreneurs to rely on their own talents and capabilities and to think globally to penetrate the overseas markets.
"Let us look at things positively and strive on. The global potential is very big," he said at a gathering of Bumiputra entrepeneurs, including 13 government agencies.
Earlier, chairman of the event, Khairy Jamaluddin, said the entrepreneurs would put forward a six-point resolution on how to improve Government policies for their betterment.
The resolutions include increasing allocations and having integrated financing to further develop entrepreneurship programmes; a mechanism to reduce bureaucracy and streamline access to government agencies; and to strengthen business networking and solidarity among Bumiputra entrepreneurs and agencies.
The other resolutions urged the Government to expand business opportunities for Bumiputra entrepreneurs via acquisitions, provide better infrastructure and enhance human capital development.
