SERENDAH: The newly completed Serendah Crematorium will be a great
convenience for the Indian community in the surrounding areas, said Hulu
Selangor MIC Youth chief, V.Mugilan.
The RM2mil, high-tech
facility has two machines from Holland and is capable of accommodating
the needs of more than 400,000 Indians in the area, and also from Hulu
Selangor, Rawang, Selayang, Slim River and Tanjung Malim, said Mugilan
when contacted, here Sunday.
He noted that prior to this, the
residents here had to incur a high cost to use the crematoriums in Jalan
Kuari, Cheras and Kampung Tunku, Petaling Jaya.
Mugilan, who is also National MIC Youth deputy chief, expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for granting the Indian community's application for this much needed facility.
"The building of the crematorium is proof of Barisan Nasional's commitment in delivering their promises," he said.
Mugilan
said the key to the crematorium had been handed over to the Sri Selva
Vinayagar Temple chairman D.Manirajoo on Wednesday, as the temple
committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing it.
The crematorium is expected to start operations early next year, he said. - Bernama
