Deepavali (which means 'Festival of Lights') was celebrated last November 15 by the Indian community around the world. This includes Malaysia, a multiracial country that has its own Indian community.
On the PM Najib's Deepavali message posted on his blog (http://1malaysia.com.my), he mentioned working closely with the Indian community to further realise the dreams and aspirations of the government for the people of Malaysia, including the Malaysian Indians. He mentioned that the Indian community has done significant roles to contribute towards building a safe, peaceful and prosperous Malaysia.
Furthermore, he said that the transformation initiatives of the government and the efforts to uplift the Indian community would not have been successful without the trust or “nambikei” between the Government and the people.
The Indian community being recognised by the PM as part of the community will only show that he is not putting aside what the Indians' can do for the country. And by working together, will ensure that every Malaysian, including Malaysian Indians, will have
better incomes and importantly, a better quality of life for current
and future generations.
