Malaysia election: Barisan has full backing of rural folk, says Najib

KUALA TERENGGANU - Barisan Nasional is confident that it has the full support of the rural community for the 13th general election, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He said rural folk knew that Barisan could provide a better future with initiatives like the Government's rural transformation programme.

"During my visits to villages and rural areas, it is clear that the people are hardcore supporters of Barisan.
"This is because they have evaluated what we have provided for them.

"They know Barisan has improved their livelihoods and that only we can provide a better future for them," the Barisan chairman said to a huge gathering at Kampung Bukit Wan here yesterday.

The Prime Minister also said rural folk knew they could not rely on Pakatan Rakyat.

BN job fair is back to help grads

PETALING JAYA: The Barisan Nasional Youth Job Fair is back, with additional features to cater for the needs of graduates who are still jobless.

Organising chairman Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin said that the fair would also serve as a platform for youths to obtain clear information about the Government's initiatives to help them in various careers.

He said the fair was being held again due to overwhelming response given to the nationwide event last year and in 2011.

Nazir Hussin said the carnival-like fair would kick off this year in Kedah on Jan 31 before moving on to Terengganu (Feb 22) and Sabah (March 2). The events will be held for two days at each venue.

Nazir Hussin said the fair's finale would be held at Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur at a date to be announced later.

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would grace the events in Kedah and Terengganu.

“The BN Job Fair is not politically motivated,” Nazir Hussin said. “The BN Youth secretariat is taking this responsibility to offer the nation's youths the best chances to build a better future in line with the Government's aims.

“We welcome the support and participation of employers from the government sector, government-linked companies and the corporate sector,” he said, adding that these sectors could also offer skills and training opportunities, entrepreneurship mentoring, counselling and business loans to visitors.

Enquiries can be made at the secretariat via www.bnyouthjobfair.my.

Indians in Terengganu urged to ignore ‘opposition’s propaganda’

KEMAMAN, Nov 28 — The Indian community in Terengganu has been advised against being influenced by the propaganda of the opposition political parties.

Air Putih state assemblyman Wan Abdul Hakim Tan Sri Wan Mokhtar said the community should ignore attempts by the opposition to incite hatred in them against the government, and should be proud that their welfare was always taken care of by the government.

He said Malaysia continued to focus on nation building and needed the support of all, regardless of whether they were from the majority or minority groups.

“The government has met the needs and wants of the Indian community, and the Indians in Terengganu have benefited from development in various aspects, including education and health.

“We don’t want the opposition to plant untruths in the community; so, we must unite to preserve the peace and racial harmony we have enjoyed all this while,” he told Bernama after launching a Deepavali programme in Jabor, near here, last night.

About 300 Indians, most of whom worked at the Sime Darby estate in Lembah Jabor as well as rural people from Semambu, Kuantan, attended the event, organised by the Special Affairs Department (Jasa), National Security Council, Lembah Jabor Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and the Air Putih Community Service Centre.

Meanwhile, Jabor Estate JKKK chairman Siva Kumar Sri Raman said the Indians of Air Putih were grateful that they were able to live peacefully in Malaysia and were proud of the government’s concern for them as a minority group.

“There are only 200 of us in Air Putih, but we have never felt neglected. Instead, we are always asked to give our views and cooperation for infrastructure and social development here.

“We will surely strive together to retain the present government because we are satisfied with what we have been enjoying,” he said.  — Bernama
