Najib calls on Kepala Batas to support BN

KEPALA BATAS, April 30 – Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak called on Kepala Batas voters to give Barisan Nasional a big mandate this May 5 in his brief visit here today.

“I can see that Kepala Batas is still very much a BN stronghold, a white area, so I am calling on all of you to continue supporting BN,” he said in his speech at a Meet the Prime Minister event in SMK Tok Labu here.

He said under no circumstances will this parliamentary constituency fall into the hands of Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

“My former boss, the former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, has given his promise that he will work hard during this period for BN,” he said.

He told the Kepala Batas people that Abdullah, more popularly known as Pak Lah, had chosen to give way to new candidate Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican so the people should give the candidate their support too.

Sabah voters should retain Najib, says Pairin

PENAMPANG (April 30, 2013): The people of Sabah should retain leaders of great calibre like Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, said Parti Bersatu Sabah president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan (pix).

He said the prime minister had initiated the transformation agenda and resolved problems faced by Sabahans, including forming the Royal Commission of Inquiry on Illegal Immigrants.

"He always goes down to the ground to meet the people, hear their grievances, and is willing to accept their suggestions or criticisms.

"Do not let go of this kind of leader. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'," he said at a rally here last night.

Pairin, who is contesting the Keningau parliamentary seat, said Najib had also beefed up the security of Sabah's east coast by setting up the Sabah East Coast Special Security Area (Esscom), deploying more members of the security forces and adding seven more police stations.

Upko president Tan Sri Giluk Bernard Dompok, who is defending the Penampang parliamentary seat, said there was no reason for the people to change the government in favour of the Opposition, which was led by inexperienced and not knowledgeable Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Housewives give their thumbs up for Najib

NILAI- Getting together and having a chat with their neighbours is a normal activity for most housewives in the evenings following the tea time with their families.

Here in Taman Andalas, the scenario is not very much different with the housewives' talks usually centred around their children, perking up the neighbourly ties and adding on to the lively evening activities in the neighbourhood.

On April 25, however, the evening's excitement had a different reason altogether, as housewife Norhazani Mat Jidan, 35, had been just informed of the impending visit of Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the state.

For the Kuala Lipis, Pahang born Norhazani, it was like a wish come true as she had harboured hopes of meeting up face-to-face with any one of the country's leaders in the four years since she moved into the housing area.

Seeing it as a golden opportunity, Norhazani quickly went through the details of Muhyiddin's scheduled visit to Negeri Sembilan on April 26.

TRAVELLING ON A MOTORBIKE

One programme caught her eyes -- the scheduled breakfast programme with the DPM and the people in Mantin, which was four kilometres away from her housing estate.

While she had no car, the lady was not one to give up and together with her friends made plans to make it to the breakfast programme.

Their journey was taken with Honda EX5 motorcycles, and together the team of ladies or 'mak kiah' made their way very early in the morning to Mantin to ensure a good seat at the event.

PRIME Minister and Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak swooped into Kedah on a whirlwind visit yesterday, and told its people it was time for the state to shed its “rice bowl” image and be transformed into a more developed and progessive society.

Achieving this is a real possibility under BN's transformation policies and economic programmes, as opposed to the Pakatan Rakyat's way of doing things, he said.

Najib was blunt when he told Kedahans to ditch opposition rule if they wanted changes that matter.

“The Opposition knows only how to go on street demonstrations and shout 'reformasi' but we are the real deal. We can propel Kedah to greater heights,” he told a large crowd at the opening of SK Taman Awana in Pokok Sena, near here.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak promised to redouble efforts to improve the quality of life of every worker if the Barisan Nasional government is given a strong mandate in Sunday's general election to govern the nation.

He said the Barisan Government would also ensure employment for every Malaysian wanting to work and provide ample access to them to upgrade their job skills in efforts to help increase their income.

“My colleagues and I will ensure the services and contributions of every worker are valued and appreciated by providing a conducive and congenial working environment for them and their families to lead a happy life in this blessed and beloved nation,” he said in his Workers Day message themed “Workers Catalyst for Nation's Transformation” aired over RTM last night.

Najib said the 13 million Malaysian workers had many reasons to be thankful for the country's low unemployment rate, which was only 3.3% in January this year compared to advanced nations like Spain, which registered 26.2%, Euro Zone (12%), France (10.7%) the United States (7.9%) and Australia (5.4%).

The Prime Minister said the cost of living in Malaysia was also under control with the inflation indicator in January at 1.3%, while the relative poverty rate had dwindled to 1.7% and per capita income increased to US$9,700 (RM29,000) last year.

“All these are efforts of a government that gives priority to the people's interests and well-being for the contributions and support of more than 13 million workers in Malaysia,” he said.

Najib vows to remove detention camp in Juru

Penang Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has promised to relocate the Juru immigration detention camp for foreign workers.

Although he did not say where it would be relocated, the crowd responded positively.

“I have fulfilled your requests,” he said as he expressed his agreement for the task as requested by BN.

The Juru detention camp houses 600 migrant workers at a time and the community fears for their security. There had been a rat disease outbreak earlier there, so residents fear for their health.

“Can we confirm Bukit Tengah is our stronghold?” he said, to wild shouts from the crowd.

He repeated pledges of 20,000 affordable homes for Penangites and launched the first phase of the project in Juru.

“How come a party that says it is a hero for the people was more concerned about the tunnel?” he asked.

Najib plays education card to lure Chinese voters

As the Chinese turnout at Pakatan Rakyat functions continue to grow, it would appear BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak has opted to play the education card over the past two days.

On Sunday, Najib told a rally in Selangor that his administration had approved SMJK (C) Confucian's request to relocate to Rawang.

He claimed that his government will also be funding the construction cost of the facility.

Yesterday, Najib was in Johor where he announced that his administration had approved the establishment of a second branch of another reputable institution, Foon Yew High School.

Foon Yew, a Chinese independent school, had applied to establish a branch on a plot of land it acquired in Seri Alam, Pasir Gudang.

"We give things to everyone, Malays get, Chinese get, Indians also get. This is our government, this is the BN government," he said during a BN rally at Kompleks Sentosa, Johor Bahru yesterday afternoon.

Najib said that incumbent Johor Bahru MP Shahrir Samad, who is defending his seat, had made a request for Foon Yew to be allowed to build a new campus.

GEORGE TOWN, May 1 ― Seizing on rising discontent over high property prices amid low wages among city folks, Datuk Seri Najib Razak has promised to build one million affordable houses across the country in the next five years in return for the urban vote.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman’s coalition wants to win the May 5 general election with a convincing two-thirds parliamentary majority that was lost in Election 2008 when urban voters switched to the parties that now make up Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Under gloomy skies, the caretaker prime minister focussed on affordable housing in a whistle-stop tour of Penang while introducing BN candidates to crowds largely made up of supporters and party workers yesterday.


“We promise one million affordable houses. But they promise, not one million, not 500,000 but just 150,000,” Najib said as he compared both coalition’s manifestos to a large crowd at the Penang riot police base in the Rifle Range residential area.

The working-class neighbourhood is the largest low-cost housing scheme in the island state, with nine 17- and 18-storey concrete blocks built in 1969 when the then opposition Gerakan won power. Gerakan is now part of BN and party secretary-general Teng Chang Yeow is the state coalition chief.

In Penang, Najib pledged to build 9,999 affordable flats in three DAP strongholds around the Rifle Range area, which is to be redeveloped from the 3,735 units into 4,800 units when combined with the police base land. The policemen are to be moved elsewhere.

He then asked the voters to elect the BN candidates to ensure the projects take off, saying “I have trust and confidence in this BN team to bring real change to Penang.”

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Razak promised to build 9,999 low-medium cost, and affordable homes for Penangites in three locations in the island.

Najib said through the 1Malaysia Development Berhad, he had signed agreements for Air Putih, Ayer Itam and Paya Terubong to each get 2,222 low-medium cost homes and 1,111 affordable homes.

The three constituencies are DAP strongholds.

Indeed DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng (left) is the incumbent for the Air Putih state seat.

About 10,000 people, all clad in blue 1Malaysia BN T-shirts greeted Najib at Rifle Range tonight, reinforcing the BN's belief that support, which they lost in 2008, has returned to the coalition.

They were treated to a long buffet line, and a star-studded concert with performances by the Alleycats, M Nasir, Jacqueline Victor and several others. 

A long line of buses, which contributed to the massive jam on the road, ferried most of the participants to the venue.

Other than BN leaders like state BN chief Teng Chang Yeow and state Umno head Zainal Abidin Osman, well-connected wealthy businessman Low Taek Jho was also present at the event.

Najib arrived at 9.45pm with his wife Rosmah Mansor and his entourage of BN leaders.

"Hebat! Hebat (great, great)! This is the most exciting rally. I see thousands of Penangites wearing the blue shirts. What does it mean? What does it mean? BN!

"I am here to assure Penangites that when the government makes a promise, it will be fulfilled," he added.

Houses and a tunnel 

Najib then recycled his promise of affordable homes for the people.

He asked: "Between houses and a tunnel, which do you choose?".

The people screamed "homes", and Najib said if BN won they would abolish the tunnel project.

"Why do it in a hurry and in a non-transparent manner?" He asked.

Malaysia election: Barisan has full backing of rural folk, says Najib

 

KUALA TERENGGANU - Barisan Nasional is confident that it has the full support of the rural community for the 13th general election, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He said rural folk knew that Barisan could provide a better future with initiatives like the Government's rural transformation programme.

"During my visits to villages and rural areas, it is clear that the people are hardcore supporters of Barisan.
"This is because they have evaluated what we have provided for them.

"They know Barisan has improved their livelihoods and that only we can provide a better future for them," the Barisan chairman said to a huge gathering at Kampung Bukit Wan here yesterday.

The Prime Minister also said rural folk knew they could not rely on Pakatan Rakyat.
