State Pas and BN leaders confident new cabinet capable of transforming the country

KOTA BARU: State Pas leaders yesterday expressed hope that the new cabinet will bring changes in the working relationship between the state and federal government and give similar priority to states under Pakatan Rakyat.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob, in welcoming the new cabinet, said it was the prerogative of the prime minister to appoint whoever he deemed fit to be in the cabinet.

He said he appreciated Datuk Seri Najib Razak's statement that the new cabinet was a transformation cabinet and hoped that it would not involve only in the changing old faces with new ones but more importantly, transforming attitudes and mentality.

“I hope the new cabinet will bring changes in the co-operation between the state and federal government in line with the spirit of the federalism,” he said.

PAS assistant secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said he saw that there was a transformation in the cabinet appointment with the inclusion of new faces.

GE13: Transformation can be done without changing government, says Najib

KUANTAN: A big transformation can be achieved without changing the government, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He said real change and progress was already taking place in Malaysia under the Barisan Nasional government so there was no need to change it.

"I know there are people peddling the word 'change' but can they bring about real change?

"How can they do it when a ship has three helmsmen. Can you imagine what will happen? It will sink," said Najib at the launch of the Pahang Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here Thursday.

He added that the Barisan government had proven itself with its transformation programmes.

"The proof is just right in front of your eyes. For example, the World Bank predicted our country's economic growth to be 4.5% last year but we performed better with 5.6%," said Najib.

The Pahang UTC houses 51 federal, state government and private agencies as well as seven non-governmental organisations under one roof.
