KUALA SELANGOR - About 2,500 families rejoiced yesterday as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak officially handed over keys to their homes in Bandar Alam Perdana, here.
The handover signalled the end of a 12-year wait for the low-cost flat owners, who were dejected when the previous developer had abandoned the project.
Najib said the project had been fraught with obstacles as the Pakatan state government had refused to issue a development order.
"When the state government does not cooperate with the Barisan Nasional government, they are not cooperating with the people.
"Not only did they not allocate funds to revive this project, but they also obstructed the project," he said at the site here yesterday.
However, he added that the Federal Government had allocated RM200 million (S$81 million) for the homes, as well as ensuring that Syarikat Perumahan Negeri Berhad took over and saw the project to completion.
