In renewed bid to win state, Najib pitches three new projects for Selangor

KLANG, May 3 — With less than 48 hours to go before Election 2013, Datuk Seri Najib Razak pledged today a new hospital, market and district police headquarters for the people near Kapar here.

The three new projects are meant to supplement the manifesto launched by Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) last month, as the coalition seeks to take back Malaysia’s richest state from Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

“Five years is enough, because Selangor is so important to achieve our nation’s transformational agenda ... I hope you will give a mighty support to BN,” Najib said at a BN event in Bukit Raja here.

According to the BN chairman, the new hospital will be built on a land supplied by property developer Sime Darby Bhd. The new markets will be build in Kapar and Meru towns.

Earlier, Najib launched the first phase of the 2,090 units of 1Malaysia People’s Housing Project (PR1MA) in front of some 5,000 people from nearby constituencies.

SEREMBAN: Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he had yet to call for the general election because he wants to prove to the rakyat that the policies introduced by his government over the past four years has impacted positively on them.

The Prime Minister said this was important because the rakyat needs to judge the performance of his government, particularly since he assumed the premiership some four years ago.

"A few days ago it was reported that the country registered a phenomenal growth of 6.4% in the last quarter of 2012.

"We have been registering impressive growth at a time when our neighbours Singapore recorded 1.5%, the United States between 1% and 2%, Europe 0.5% to 1% and some nations at -3% to -4%," he said at the launch of the construction of 5,000 units of the Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) project and the redevelopment of the Keretapi Tanah Melayu station here on Sunday.

Beware of unofficial PR1MA websites

PETALING JAYA: Netizens interested in registering for affordable housing under the 1Malaysia People's Housing Scheme (PR1MA) should be wary of websites that appear to be affiliated with the scheme.

PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias clarified that all official information and registration details could be obtained at the scheme's official website www.pr1ma.my.

“Lately, I was made aware of the existence of another website that is trying to dupe the public,” said Abdul Mutalib.

The site, with the address www.pr1ma.net, was set up on Nov 18 and provides users with PR1MA details and updates plucked from the official website and other news portals. It also has links to travel and employment blogs.

In it's disclaimer, however, the site's administrator states “This site contents are for INFORMATION ONLY & DO NOT have any relation with other PR1MA Berhad or its subsidiaries. We will not be liable for any reason in regards to their service.”

“We are monitoring the website to see if the administrator is trying to solicit money or personal information from users,” said Abdul Mutalib.

He said he had received complaints from Netizens who had tried to register for the PR1MA scheme under the unofficial website, which only provides a dead registration link.

Najib: 25,500 PR1MA units for Johor at over 20% discount

KULAIJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Tuesday announced the building of 25,500 affordable housing units in the Iskandar Malaysia region, here, under the Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) scheme.

He said the market price of each unit was RM250,000, but through the public-private sector partnership in the form of funds from the Government, the project could be expedited with the houses to be sold at below the market price.

"The original market price offered by the developer was RM250,000 but through facilitation by the Government, the price would be 199,000 only.

"This is a big discount of RM51,000 or over 20% through the contribution of funds from the Government," he said at the drawing of lots for the Nusantara PR1MA affordable housing units at Dewan Raya, Bandar Putra. - Bernama
