ROYAL ADVICE: Rule of law, upholding Constitution must be core of efforts, says king.
KUALA LUMPUR: YANG di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah
wants all quarters, regardless of race and beliefs, to support efforts
by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to restore national unity.
He wants principles, like parliamentary democracy, constitutional
monarchy, diversity, upholding the Constitution and the rule of law, to
be made the core of the process.
"Restoring national understanding should be made a national priority by all quarters.
"Whether Malaysia continues to succeed and achieve the status of a
high-income developed country, or a failed country, will depend on the
understanding among us.
"Therefore, I want all quarters to preserve and further strengthen the
current bond of unity," said the king at the investiture in conjunction
with his birthday at Istana Negara here yesterday.
