PM points out true value of civilised nation - social transformation

PETALING JAYA: The success of a nation does not depend solely on its skyscrapers, modern public amenities, high-tech factories or increased per capita income but also on its value system, says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“The reality is that, if we are to build a civilised nation, there must be social transformation in terms of changes in attitude and the value system,” said the Prime Minister.

“This becomes one of the important factors why some countries are more developed than others,” he said when launching the My Beautiful Malaysia Day programme at Taman Medan here yesterday. Also present was Selangor Barisan Nasional co-ordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed.

Involving various community projects carried out on a voluntary basis, the programme kicked off simultaneously at 390 venues nationwide with more than a million youths participating.

It was held in conjunction with the Year of Volunteerism 2013 campaign to get more youths involved in charity.

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak launched the 'My Beautiful Malaysia' programme at Taman Medan here Sunday.

The Prime Minister was greeted at the Taman Medan Cahaya field by Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar, and Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa.

Najib had breakfast with Barisan Nasional leaders before laying the bricks for the construction of the Surau At-Taufiqiyyah's extension.

Najib later joined residents in painting Sekolah Menengah Taman Medan and planting fruit trees at the site together with My Beautiful Malaysia volunteers. - Bernama

Najib: Social the final key to transformation programmes

PETALING JAYA: Emphasis will be given to further strengthen the Government's social transformation, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak here on Sunday.

He said that social transformation was the final key in the government, economic and political transformation programmes.

"The final and if not equally important for all the transformations to be complete, is social transformation," he said this when launching the national level 'My Beautiful Malaysia' programme in SK Taman Medan.

He noted that the positive effect of social transformation requires a long time to show results unlike the government, economic and political transformation.
